FSC's Finance curriculum builds quantitative and qualitative reasoning and applies it directly to the field. On a strong business foundation, you'll develop finance-specific expertise through courses in investments, advanced managerial finance, and microeconomics, then go deeper through electives in areas like monetary economics, international trade and finance, econometrics, and quantitative business modeling.

The program's practical focus, paired with the Student Managed Investment Fund and Bloomberg trading terminals, means you graduate having applied financial theory to real markets, not just studied it.

The BS in Finance totals 124 credit hours, built on a business core and a focused finance core.

Business Core

Foundational coursework in financial and managerial accounting, business principles, management, Excel for business, business systems, professional development, legal environment of business, applied statistics and analytics, a business administration internship, strategic management, macroeconomics, managerial finance, and marketing principles.

Finance Core

Finance-specific coursework in microeconomics, investments, and advanced managerial finance, plus eight hours of finance electives chosen from areas including upper-level finance, spreadsheet modeling and quantitative business decisions, business analytics, monetary economics, econometrics, and international trade and finance.

General Education and Electives

Additional hours in FSC's WRIGHT Foundations, BS degree requirements, and electives round out the full 124-credit degree.

Many extracurricular organizations are associated with the Finance major, including Delta Sigma Pi, the professional business fraternity; the Real Estate Club; and the Dean's Advisory Council. Through these organizations you'll connect with students and alumni working at companies around the world.

Finance students also help steward FSC's $100,000 student-managed investment fund, researching and trading real positions through the program's Bloomberg trading terminals.

Accreditation That Sets FSC Finance Apart

Florida Southern's business programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a mark of excellence held by only 6 percent of business schools worldwide. The Finance program builds on that foundation as part of the CFA Institute University Affiliate Program, a designation confirming the curriculum meets the CFA Institute's high standards for faculty expertise, resources, and course content. Together, they align your degree with the global standard for investment professionals and help prepare you for the CFA program exams.

A Field With Strong Earning Power

Finance consistently ranks among the highest-paying business fields, and the numbers back it up. Entry-level financial analysts earn around $63,700 to start, and the national median wage for financial and investment analysts is $101,350, more than double the median for all occupations. The field is growing, too, with employment for financial analysts projected to rise 6 percent through 2034, faster than the average for all jobs.

FSC finance graduates enter this market as financial analysts, investment bankers, risk managers, and financial advisors, equipped with the analytical skills, real investment experience, and credentials to compete.

"After summer positions with the Naples Zoo and Auto-Owners Insurance, I was offered an internship with JP Morgan Chase. These opportunities would not have been possible without the guidance provided by the faculty. They offer great advice and are a support system, something not every institution can offer."
