Healthcare Management Minor

Health care needs leaders who understand both the business and the mission. This online minor builds the management skills to run healthcare organizations well, in five focused courses, and it adds cleanly to a business degree, a health sciences degree, or the experience you already bring from working in the field.

Healthcare Management Minor

Why Study Healthcare Management

Health care is one of the largest and fastest-changing industries in the country, and it runs on people who can manage it. This minor provides you with that skill set through five focused courses from the AACSB-accredited Barney Barnett School of Business and Free Enterprise.

You will study how healthcare organizations are structured and led, how they are financed, how policy and reform shape what they can do, how clinical and administrative information systems work, and how quality and patient safety are measured and improved. It is a practical, career-ready credential for anyone who wants to help lead a healthcare organization, not just work in one.

Pairs Well With

A minor earns its place by complementing what you are already studying. Because every course is a business school course with no science prerequisites, Healthcare Management adds to a wide range of majors.

Business and Communication students

Business Administration, Accounting, and Communication students focus their upper-level work on health care, the region's largest employer, and graduate ready for management roles in hospitals, insurers, and health systems.

nursing students practicing on simulation lab patients

Nursing and health sciences students

If your degree teaches you to deliver care, this minor teaches you to manage it: the finance, policy, operations, and quality systems that clinical training does not cover. It is the credential behind the move from practicing to leading.

exercise science students guiding someone through an exercise on an exercise ball

Anyone headed for the health sector

Biology, psychology, exercise science, and pre-health students who expect to work in health care can add the business fluency that sets a future manager apart.
