How the Pathway Works

Phase 1: Florida Southern College

Complete the foundational math and science coursework required for admission to the dual-degree program, while majoring in any field you choose. Pre-engineering students at FSC most often pursue a degree in:

This phase builds a strong liberal arts foundation, emphasizing problem-solving and fostering knowledge in the humanities and social sciences.

Phase 2: Washington University in St. Louis

After completing your pre-engineering and major coursework at FSC, you'll transition to the McKelvey School of Engineering at WUSTL to finish your engineering degree, earning a bachelor's degree from FSC and an engineering degree from WUSTL. Three flexible options are available:

  • 3-2 Program: Three years at FSC and two at WUSTL. You enter engineering studies sooner, for a quicker start in technical courses and professional networking.
  • 4-2 Program: Four years at FSC allows deeper engagement with your major and broader liberal arts study, strengthening your critical thinking, communication, and interdisciplinary skills.
  • 3-3 Graduate Option: For students interested in advanced degrees, this option offers automatic acceptance into WUSTL's 3-3 program, letting you earn a bachelor's from FSC plus both a bachelor's and a master's in engineering from WUSTL.

At WUSTL, you can specialize in engineering fields such as:

  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Computer Science and Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Systems Science and Engineering
