Use the Four-Year Plan
Career Services has built a year-by-year plan around nine employability skills. Incorporate them into syllabi, assignments, and class discussion to reinforce career preparation alongside your disciplinary content.
Career Services partners with faculty across departments to bring career preparation into the classroom and connect students with real-world opportunities. Whatever you want to hand off, we can take some of it.
A few ways to make career preparation part of your course without taking on the whole thing yourself.

Have students meet with a career professional, attend an event, or take a career assessment. Many faculty find this is the simplest way to get students through our door early.
Career Services events give students real exposure to employers, alumni, graduate schools, and the wider community. A nudge from you carries more weight than an email from us.
We'll come to your class and cover what you want, in the time you have. Tell us the topic, the length, and anything specific you'd like us to hit.
Popular topics include the job-search fundamentals (resumes and cover letters, interview practice, search strategies, professional branding) and bigger-picture sessions (career exploration, translating leadership skills to the workplace, resolving workplace conflict, life after college, and graduate school preparation).
