Campus Ministries

Faith is woven into the fabric of life at Florida Southern College. Founded in 1883 by the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church, FSC has always understood that education and religious life belong together, that who you are becoming as a person is as important as what you are learning in the classroom.

Every Tradition Welcome

That conviction has never meant one tradition or one way of believing. Florida Southern College fosters an inclusive climate and supports all faith and spiritual journeys. The Chaplain's Office works with a wide variety of spiritual communities offering religious-specific programming, interfaith dialogue, and opportunities to explore ethical, religious, philosophical, and spiritual questions alongside your peers.

Worship on Campus

Our campus is home to vibrant weekly and monthly worship opportunities open to students of every denomination and background.

Beyond Campus Ministry

The largest student-led ministry and the largest weekly student-led organization at Florida Southern. Beyond brings the campus community together for interdenominational fellowship, community, praise, and worship that is entirely student-led. If you are looking for a community where you can show up as yourself, Beyond is worth visiting.

The Feast

A monthly dinner and church service where students gather to share a free meal, worship together as one community, and celebrate Holy Communion. Led by the Chaplain's Office and open to all students.

Sunday Worship Shuttle

A weekly opportunity for students to attend Sunday services at participating churches throughout Lakeland. The shuttle helps students explore local congregations, find a church community, and stay connected to their faith beyond campus.

Find Your Faith Community

FSC is home to student-led faith communities representing a wide range of traditions.

Catholic Campus Ministry

A community for Catholic students offering prayer, Bible study, and fellowship. Open to all students who want to explore or deepen their Catholic faith.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

An interdenominational prayer, study, and fellowship group for student athletes. FCA brings together competitors from across FSC's athletic programs around shared faith and mutual accountability.

FSC Hillel

A welcoming space for Jewish students and allies — for study, fellowship, Sabbath celebration, and connection to Jewish life and culture at FSC.

Men's Bible Study

An interdenominational Bible study and fellowship group for male students. A consistent community built around shared study and mutual support.

Muslim Student Association

A community for Muslim students and allies gathering for prayer, study, fellowship, and education. MSA has deep ties to the Multicultural Student Council and plays an active role in interfaith programming at FSC.

Nurse's Christian Fellowship

An interdenominational prayer, study, and fellowship group for nursing students — a community of support for students navigating one of FSC's most demanding programs.

Sandwich Services

A student-led ministry serving Lakeland's homeless community. Students prepare and distribute sandwiches and build genuine relationships with community members in need — one of the most tangible expressions of faith in action at FSC.

Women's Bible Study

An interdenominational Bible study and fellowship group for female students. A space for honest conversation, shared learning, and community.

Programs From the Chaplain's Office

In addition to student-led communities, the Chaplain's Office offers regular programming open to all students, regardless of faith background or tradition. Come as you are.

The Table

A weekly gathering in the Fannin Center for a free catered meal, an uplifting message, and genuine community. There is no better event on campus to connect with the diverse community of FSC each week.

Remedy

A weekly time of relaxation and creativity on the lawn of the Fannin Center. Come make something, decompress, and spend time with people. No faith background required.

Chaplain's Bible Study

Once a month the Chaplain gathers students for lunch, a brief devotional, and a time of Bible study and prayer. A welcome moment of rest in the middle of a busy semester.

Lunch and Learn

Twice each semester the Fannin Center hosts a free lunch and guest speaker exploring a special topic in the life of faith. Each session brings a different theme, a different meal, and a different perspective to the conversation.

Pastoral Counseling

Sometimes you need more than a program. The Chaplain's Office offers free, confidential pastoral counseling and spiritual direction to all FSC students; whether you are navigating a faith question, a personal crisis, a grief, or simply a season that feels heavy.

You do not need to identify with any faith tradition to reach out. You just need to show up, and we will meet you there.

Pastoral counseling is available based on your needs and schedule and can be arranged in person at the Fannin Center or by email. Reach out to any member of our staff to get started.

Connect with a Church in Lakeland

The Chaplain’s Office offers opportunities for all students to easily connect with churches in the Lakeland community that reflect their traditions.

Sunday Worship Shuttle

The Sunday Worship Shuttle makes it easy to connect with local churches in the Lakeland community. Provided by the Office of Campus Safety, the shuttle drops students off at participating churches and returns to campus after each service ends, so you can worship without worrying about a ride.

Participating churches include:

  • The King's Church: The King’s Church exists to see a greater worship of Jesus through declaring and displaying the gospel. This church exists to declare the King and to display the Kingdom to a world that is in desperate need of this good news. The King’s Church is affiliated with The Florida Baptist Convention and the Acts 29 global church network.
  • First United Methodist Church: The purpose of First United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This church strives to accomplish this by being a worship plus three church: worship, invite, grow, serve. First United Methodist Church is a local church in the Florida Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
  • Resurrection Catholic Church: Resurrection Catholic Church is a vibrant Catholic community that came together in 1963 and continues to grow every day in members and in Faith. This parish is a warm, encouraging and inspiring place to call home. Resurrection Catholic Church is a parish of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orlando.
  • Grace City Church: Grace City is a vibrant, life-giving church dedicated to lead people into a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. This church is here to help people grow in faith, build real relationships, and live with purpose. Grace City is a non-denominational, evangelical congregation with location in Lakeland and Tampa.

Whether you want to attend a church from your own tradition or explore a new faith community with friends, this is a safe and convenient way to worship off campus.

Contact the Chaplain's Office for current departure times and to confirm the shuttle schedule for the semester.
