About the Master of Accountancy Degree

Florida Southern College's AACSB-accredited Master of Accountancy program builds on your undergraduate accounting foundation and prepares you for the Uniform CPA Examination and a career in professional accounting.

The MAcc is a 30-credit-hour program that advances your knowledge across auditing, financial and managerial accounting, research, and taxation. Through rigorous coursework and applied experience, you'll develop the analytical reasoning, technical writing, and professional judgment that public accounting firms and corporate finance teams look for in their next generation of leaders. And with a hybrid, low-residency structure, you can earn it without stepping away from your career.

Program Details

Explore how the program's flexible structure, CPA-aligned curriculum, and applied research prepare you to advance without pressing pause on your career.

The MAcc is built for working professionals. The 30-credit curriculum is delivered in a hybrid, low-residency format: depending on your elective choices, only about 20 to 25% of your coursework meets in person, with the remainder online. In-person sessions are also available via live stream, so remote students take full part in class discussions, group projects, and faculty interaction. Courses run in 14-week fall and spring semesters and 12-week summer semesters.

The MAcc prepares you to sit for the Uniform CPA Examination in Florida and most other states. The core curriculum builds the financial reporting, auditing, taxation, and analytical expertise the exam demands, and a dedicated CPA Review course is available as an elective.

The program culminates in a research and capstone project (ACC 6900), where you'll conduct consequential research on a current accounting topic of your choosing. Beyond the technical work, it builds the technical writing and communication skills that distinguish accountants who advance into leadership.

Why a Master of Accountancy?

Advanced Hours That Move You Toward Licensure

CPA licensure requires education beyond a standard bachelor's degree, and the MAcc builds those additional hours with graduate-level accounting coursework rather than filler credits. The time you spend advancing toward licensure is time spent deepening the expertise you'll actually use on the job.

Certification Prep Built In

The program is structured around CPA readiness. The core curriculum maps to the auditing, financial accounting, and taxation domains the Uniform CPA Examination tests, and a dedicated CPA Review elective is available to reinforce your preparation. You finish ready for the exam, not scrambling to prepare after.

A Network That Hires

FSC accounting students connect directly with the firms that hire them, through the annual accounting-only "Moc" Interviews and Career Fair and the Institute of Accounting Excellence. Recent graduates have landed at firms ranging from regional practices to the Big 4 and top-ten national firms.

"Florida Southern's Accounting program and faculty aided me in preparing, networking, and ultimately securing a job with one of the Big 4 Accounting Firms. The experience of all the accounting professors goes far beyond the classroom, which has assisted and inspired me throughout my education."

Rea Joerger

"My position as a Staff Consultant in the Technology Risk practice at the Tampa office of EY would not have been possible without FSC. Ranging from the vast professional network of Prof. Celina Jozsi, to the coursework that prepared me for the CPA exam, to the College's assistance with landing multiple internships prior to starting full-time, I was fortunate to gain both academic and practical experience that has proven to be invaluable to me in my current role."

Charles Gotsch

"The relationships I was able to forge with my professors during my time at FSC were instrumental in my securing a career after graduation. The intimate classroom settings, the comprehensive coursework, and the outside-of-classroom experiences offered by the program are unmatched in the area. Were it not for my professors dedicating themselves to seeing students succeed beyond the classroom, I would not find myself where I am today: at a multinational accounting firm working alongside brilliant minds thanks to a professor who saw something in me."
